The Regent Hotel is a popular local pub on the bustling end of Anzac Parade. Drawn to its laid back atmosphere, good quality cheap steaks and pool tables, the pub attracts a diverse crowd: students from the University of New South Wales, thespians studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, punters from Randwick racecourse and local businesspeople.
The pub has entertainment for everybody. While large screens drop down for major sporting events, Students -- armed with their special REGE cards -- can often be found slouching on leather lounges or having a relaxing game of pool. They will soon have a new nook when an outdoor courtyard is completed by summer.
Back in 1976, Aussie rock legend Peter Garrett and now Shadow Minister for the Environment, played his first Midnight Oils set at the pub. The Regent Hotel continues to rock-on, with live music on Wednesday nights and late opening hours throughout the week.
