Chiswick Heads Harbourside This August
Woollahra’s Chiswick restaurant is hosting a series of pre-theatre harbourside dinners this August. The Chiswick x Opera Bar Pre-Theatre Experience brings a taste of the planted-to-plated Chiswick magic to Opera Bar for the first time and showcases some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.
The two-course pre-theatre menu is curated by Matt Moran and executed by Opera Bar’s executive chef Fernando Sanchez and his team. Begin with a glass of Chandon Rose sparkling on arrival and shared entrees including Sonoma sourdough with tomato butter; barra-masalata with vegetable chips; and beef tartare with pickled king brown and crisps.
Follow this with a choice of three mains: rigatoni with roasted tomato and salted ricotta pangrattato; pan roasted snapper with fennel and sauce gribiche; or roast chicken with braised brassicas and Jerusalem artichoke. These are accompanied by shared sides of slow roasted pumpkin with pepita and maple as well as butter lettuce with a herb vinaigrette. The menu is priced at $80 per person.
“Bringing the planted-to-plated magic of Chiswick to Opera Bar under the sails of the Sydney Opera House is something a little different and fun for theatregoers,” explains Matt Moran. “We’ve curated a menu that highlights many of Chiswick’s most popular dishes to enjoy with table service right here in one of the best locations in the city.”
The intimate Chiswick x Opera Bar Pre-Theatre Experience is hosted in Opera Bar’s cosy indoor space. The pop-up series runs from 5 through to 29 August, Mondays to Thursdays from 5pm only. This is the first time dinner bookings have been taken at Opera Bar. Sitting times may change to align with Sydney Opera House show times but will always be pre-theatre. Bookings are now open via operabar.com.au. Due to the limited availability, it is recommended to book, but if there’s space, walk ins are always welcome.
This experience is perfect for theatregoers who have always wanted to try Chiswick, as well as for long-time fans of the Woollahra institution who want to savour a taste when they’re in the city and heading to a show. Chiswick Woollahra remains fully open during this pop-up series.
