Kings Cross Hotel & Bacardi Launch Tupu's Tiki Rooftop Rumshack

1 October 2020

Kings Cross Hotel and Bacardi are set to transform the level six rooftop into Tupu’s Tiki Rooftop Rumshack from 16 October to 28 November. Step into a lush tiki escape (minus the passport) to find an array of classic and twisted Bacardi tiki cocktails, island-inspired food, and vinyl DJs every weekend.

In this modern take on a traditional tiki, cocktails include the highly instagrammable smoking volcano shared cocktail “Tūtū Pele, topped with pineapple, blood orange and passion fruit; Mai Tai; Pandan Colada with pineapple and coconut; and a Tonka Old Fashioned with Tiki spices.

Wash them down with delicious island-inspired food including salmon or vegan poke bowls as well as Bacardi Spiced Rum chicken wings, a pork Cubano sandwich with casava chips. Guests can order food and drinks without even leaving the table through the contactless ordering app me&u.

On Thursday 29 October, Bacardi Ambassador and expert mixologist Loy Catada will host a Cocktail Masterclass. Learn about the colourful history of Tiki dating back to the 1920’s and create two incredible cocktails whilst enjoying delish island-inspired food.

Reece Trueman, General Manager of Kings Cross Hotel, can hardly wait to launch: “Talking to our guests, they have all been through a lot with COVID happening, everyone’s had their own story and struggles. With the warmer weather and sunshine coming in we wanted to create an escape for them that feels like a little tropical holiday away from their day to day.”

Kings Cross Hotel’s rooftop will transform into a very instagrammable tiki oasis that’s light, fresh, full of on trend tropical plants and quirky nods to traditional tiki.
