SOLOTEL SUMMER SAFETY FOCUSES
It’s time! Time to do what we do best, and time to create those memorable experiences for our incredible guests that frequent our venues throughout the year. While we help our guests celebrate the year that was, it is important for us to remember to look after ourselves and our teammates in the trenches alongside us.
We have put together a few focus points to ensure we all remain safe.
ALLARA RSA REFRESHER (INC SEXUAL HARRASSMENT & DRINK SPIKING)
Back in October, all front of house staff across all venues have received a notification to complete the newly updated RSA Refresher Course through Allara. This Refresher course was off the back of changes to the Legislation that required all staff to be trained in dealing with sexual harassment and drink spiking in Licensed Premises. Solotel enforces a zero-tolerance approach to Sexual Harassment and Drink Spiking and are in support of the Allara training that has been provided.
WHS – SLIPS & TRIPS – LETS LOOK AFTER EACH OTHER
Hazards can appear at any time of the day. Solotel utilises RiskMaster to report and track all current Workplace hazards. It is everyone's responsibility in the venue to report a hazard to Management so that it can be rectified and the correct actions taken to provide a safe workplace and venue. Please ensure that all staff are wearing the correct shoes and clothing to reduce the chances of slips, trips, and falls throughout the workplace.
NALOXONE AND OPIOID OVERDOSES IN LICENCED PREMISES
The increase in opioid usage is a concerning fact we are facing in the industry currently. Overdoses can and do occur, and as part of a broader harm reduction initiative, NSW Health is encouraging hospitality venues to consider the voluntary use of naloxone as part of their first aid response. Naloxone is a fast-acting medicine that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. For more information on naloxone, as well as how to implement this as a first aid response within venue, please click HERE. We have been working with AusComply to include some extra categories to their reporting so that it can be recorded when Naxolone is sourced, as well as when it is administered. Please ensure these are utilised if necessary.
RESILIENCE BOX & CENTRE FOR CORPORATE HEALTH
As we approach the busy Christmas and New Year period, it’s important to acknowledge the challenges that come with peak trading times. Increased customer volumes, longer shifts, and the fast-paced environment can sometimes lead to stress and fatigue, impacting both physical and mental wellbeing. At Solotel, we care about your health and resilience, and we encourage you to prioritise self-care during this time. To support you, we’ve provided a range of resources through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Resilience Box® platform, which offers tools for managing stress, coping with change, and maintaining positive mental health. Please see here for details on how to access these services, including tele-health sessions with qualified psychologists and a wealth of wellbeing resources. Remember, looking after your mental health is just as important as delivering great service. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support.
